TN Business Owner & Iranian Immigrant Invests, Shows the Economic Impact of Immigrant Population

UNION CITY, TN - During a press conference on Tuesday, approximately twenty business and community leaders and elected officials joined Darius and Susan Mir, Iranian immigrants and local business owners of Made In America Seating, a seating manufacturing company based in Union City, Tennessee, to hear his personal story and call for comprehensive immigration reform.

An Iranian immigrant, Darius Mir moved to the United States in 1983 and has since leveraged his businesses to give back to the country which he now calls home-- by bringing manufacturing jobs back to the United States.

Industrial Announcement & Hiring Opportunities

ColorCoat Inc., a windows and doors coating application company, will invest $600,000 and create 80 new jobs in Obion County.

Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development commissioner Bob Rolfe — along with ColorCoat Inc. officials — announced today the company will locate new operations in South Fulton.

“I want to thank ColorCoat for choosing to locate its new facility in South Fulton and for creating 80 new jobs in Obion County,” Rolfe said. “This is a big win for South Fulton and the State of Tennessee and I look forward to our future partnership with ColorCoat and seeing this company grow and succeed in our state.”

OC Workforce Development: Work Ethics Certificate Program

On April 11, representatives from the Obion County Joint Economic Development Council and Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Williams Sausage, CenterPoint Business Solutions, Commercial Bank, NW Tennessee Workforce Board, TCAT Newbern, and Obion County Schools met to discuss the implementation of the Work Ethics Certificate program in Obion County Schools, and the impact it could have on employment in our area.

15 Communities to Receive Site Development Grants

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd announced today that 15 communities will receive $5.7 million in Site Development Grants to prepare economic development sites for market.

The Site Development Grant program is part of the larger Rural Economic Development Fund announced by Haslam and Boyd last October. "We want to help our rural communities build capacity and be ready for investment and economic success, and through the Site Development Grant program, all 15 communities will be able to succeed and grow," Haslam said. "We've embraced change in our approach to workforce readiness with programs like Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect, and we want to congratulate all 15 communities on receiving these grants. I look forward to seeing each thrive and bring new business to our state."

Institutional Casework Inc. to expand in tennessee

Custom Laboratory Building Company to Invest $6.2Million, Create 200 New Jobs

NASHVILLE-Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd along with Institutional Casework Inc. (ICI) officials announced the company will expand its current operations in Tennessee, opening a new manufacturing facility in Union City. ICI is expanding due to market demand and will invest $6.2 million in this new facility, creating 200 new jobs in Obion County.

"We want to thank Institutional Casework Inc. for choosing to expand in Tennessee and the new jobs in Union City and Obion County," Haslam said. "Our focus has been not only fostering a business climate that helps businesses be created here but also grow and succeed, and it's exciting to see companies like ICI thriving and expanding their footprint here in Tennessee."
